Off-Road Royalty: HUMMER's Legacy of Adventure

The Hummer is a classic all-American heavy-duty adventure vehicle, but even this rugged design demands regular maintenance. At Exhaust Plus - Complete Auto Repair, we’ve learned to truly value the extreme terrain capability of the Hummer, coupled with its automotive innovation, and we want to help you keep yours in the great shape it deserves.

One of the Greats

Although it started as a military vehicle, the civilian Hummer HMC started life in 1992 and very quickly became a mainstay on the roadways. Noted for its cutting-edge automotive design, it was especially beloved by celebrities, business moguls, and anyone looking for a high-powered adventure vehicle. Without belaboring the point, the Hummer became an almost overnight success.

The company’s big break came in 1999 when it entered negotiations with General Motors (GM). GM received the rights to sell and distribute Hummer vehicles, renaming the military version of the Hummer to the Hummer H1. GM soon after released the Hummer H2 to the public, impressing the entire vehicle market with a smaller, more efficient take on the Hummer H1 model.

Although the 2005 Hummer H3 sold a lot of vehicles, it was also the smallest Hummer that the company had yet produced, and it was the first one solely designed and manufactured by General Motors themselves. The contract with GM unfortunately ended in 2008, which led to the discontinuation of Hummer vehicles, but thankfully, that wasn’t the end of the story.

In 2023, the Hummer brand saw a major resurgence with the rise of electric vehicle (EV) technology. The modern GMC Hummer has been completely transformed with fully integrated electrical technology, making it more fuel efficient than ever before without sacrificing its world-renowned off-roading capabilities. Still just as rugged and chiseled on the outside, the new Hummers are separated into two distinct models:

  • The GMC Hummer EV Pickup
  • The GMC Hummer EV SUV

The new Hummers have a more luxurious interior than previous models. lined with comfortable seating and modern accessories such as a dashboard infotainment system, adjustable seats, and headrests. The entire system is built to provide a more upscale driving experience in all weather conditions.
